I am a political sociologist specializing in studies of nationalism, democracy, and technology. I am principally interested in how socio-political configurations are implicated in the constitution of power relations, hegemonic regimes and processes of (de)democratization. My research is by extension often oriented towards thematically associated areas, such as state, populism, emotions and borders and migration studies.

I am dedicated in advancing the field of political sociology in ways that helps us navigate current and emerging socio-political challenges. I am an advocate of interdisciplinary and multi-method approaches that are formulated on the basis of coherent theory and epistemology. My work - and my recently published book in particular - has thoroughly engaged with key questions that are at the forefront of social and political theory in efforts of advancing sociological thought beyond the confines of restrictive and outdated approaches.

I am a researcher at the Digital Transitions & Society research initiative, at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus. Digital Transitions & Society critically examines emerging technologies by interrogating how they are implicated in the production of cultural and political systems. We are currently conducting research on the sociology of artificial intelligence and othe related technologies.
